AMES, Iowa - A fire at an apartment in Ames has killed a dog and three cats. Officials with the Ames Fire Department say crews were called to the apartment Friday afternoon. The fire was contained to the apartment. Officials say it appears the fire started in the kitchen. The apartment, one of six in the building, was destroyed.
